What Is MLPPP / Bonded DSL?

MLPPP stands for "Multilink PPP" or "MultiLink Point to Point Protocol".

In non technical terms, it's a communications protocol that enables you to combine two (or more in theory) DSL Connections as if they were a single DSL connection of greater bandwidth. For example, you can use two DSL Modems to connect to the Internet, thereby obtaining a connection that works at approximately twice the data transfer rate of a single DSL Modem used alone.

Background Information

MLPPP is often called bonding or Bonded DSL. For example, lets say you have 2 DSL connections each giving you 1MB Upload, 6MB Download, and a total transfer of 200GB Per Month. If you were to use MLPPP and Bond the two DSL connections together you would get 2MB Upload, 12MB download and a total transfer of 400GB Per Month. As an added bonus - when you bond 2 DSL connections together, it bypasses all throttling - and thus - chances are very good you will more than double not only your upload, but also your download speeds. That's like putting your Internet Connection on steroids!!!

What Do I Need To Make It Work?

Essentially - you need 2 of everything. This literally means 2 of everything, so if you have a Dry Loop, you need 2 of them, if you have a Modem, you need 2 of them, if you have a Phone Line running to your Modem - you need 2 of them. Lets take for sake of argument a customer who needs MLPPP / Bonded DSL and they have no traditional phones lines, here is what they would need.
