Hi Small Business Owners, welcome to this edition of "Lies they Believe", and "The Truths, I Know"

In this video we will seek to uncover a common cybersecurity misconception I hear when I speak to Small Business Owners.

"Number 14 - Darryl - my cousin Bob is a real techie, he helps us with stuff when we need it, we don’t need full time IT services, or any of this cybersecurity stuff"

But you see, that just isn't the truth.  The TRUTH IS, Cousin Bob probably already has a full-time job doing something else, or maybe he's retired and enjoying his glory years.

Regardless of his work situation, Bob likely also goes for vacation, and unfortunately, he gets sick from time to time, or takes the weekend off to go fishing.   Probably on the same day someone in your office decides to click something they shouldn’t have.

After all, Bob is only human, he cannot always be all things to all people, he also cannot be in all places at the same time.

Moreover, unless Bob can clone himself into a mini army of Bob's, the chances of him preventing cybersecurity incidents in your business is probably slim.

You see, to do cybersecurity correctly, Bob needs proper cybersecurity tools, ongoing training to implement them, and time to keep his industry knowledge current.

Simply put, it's not possible for him to do all of this, AND work another job, AND ensure your business is continually monitored and protected all at the same time.   It's just not realistic.

If your business is still relying on Cousin Bob, operating this way, you and your employees are likely only one bad click away from having a bad day.

Remember Folks, the bad guys only need to get lucky ONCE.
